History of the Quarry Gymnastics Center Inc.

The Quarry Gymnastics Organization has been instructing children in the DuBois area since 1983. Although the gym has gone through many changes, one thing that has never changed throughout the years has been the owner and head coach of the gym, Lisa La Brasca. For this reason, many parents feel as though their children are in a safe environment with a certified instructor. We at the Quarry feel that gymnastics is a sport that everybody can do.

Lisa La Brasca started her gymnastic school in the back of her father’s warehouse on South Brady Street in DuBois. The gymnastic school lasted there from its initial opening in 1983 to March of 1991. Lisa purchased the old Knights of Columbus building, and converted it into the gymnastic school that it is now. Prior to the Quarry Gymnastic Center moving there, the building was famous in the area for hosting wedding receptions and dances. Since the building was so well known in the area many people still come over to see what it looks like now.

Since moving in 1991 all light fixtures have been fixed. Gymnastic equipment such as a balance beam, bars, trampoline, a table top fault and an in-ground resi-pit are what make up the inside of the Quarry Gymnastic Center. Lisa also kept a lot of the building the same, including the walk-in room which consists of a dressing room for students and a waiting area for parents.

The Quarry Gymnastics Center Inc. is a USA Gymnastics Club Member.
